Privacy Policy

AI Chat Navigator runs locally in your browser. It does not collect, transmit, sell, share, or store your chat content on external servers.

Single Purpose

AI Chat Navigator helps users organize, navigate, understand, copy, and export their own conversation threads across supported AI chat platforms such as ChatGPT, Claude, DeepSeek, Grok, Perplexity, Gemini, and Qwen.

Data Collection and Storage

AI Chat Navigator handles only the data needed to provide its user-facing features.

Storage Data

The extension saves user-written Chat Notes, conversation addresses used to associate those notes with a chat, panel layouts, and floating-icon positions in Chrome’s local extension storage on your device.

Visibility, floating-icon preferences, and copy/download format preferences use Chrome’s sync storage and may sync through your Chrome account according to your browser settings. Chat Notes are not placed in sync storage. Conversation content is processed in browser memory rather than saved as a persistent chat archive by the extension.

Active Tab Data

The extension interacts with the active supported chat tab when the user uses extension features, such as showing the Navigator panel, scrolling to selected messages, or starting copy/export actions. No active tab data is transmitted to external servers.

Supported Site Data

The extension reads conversation content and page structure on supported AI chat websites to build prompt lists, response outlines, mindmaps, and exports. To include older messages, it may use the site’s own history controls and scroll the conversation. On ChatGPT it also observes history and generation data already received by the page, retaining prompt labels and message identities in page memory. On Gemini it observes existing history responses and retains turn identities to check completeness. These passive observers do not issue additional network requests, retain credentials, or send conversation data to the developer. Answer content is read from the page when needed. All extension processing occurs locally in the user's browser.

Permissions Used

• storage: saves Chat Notes and layouts locally, and selected preferences in Chrome sync storage.
• activeTab: allows interaction with the active supported chat tab when the user clicks the extension icon or uses popup/panel features.
• scripting: injects the extension's own packaged JavaScript and CSS into an active supported chat tab when the content script is missing, such as an already-open tab after install or update. No remote code or arbitrary user code is executed.
• clipboardWrite: writes copied content to the clipboard only when the user explicitly clicks a copy action.
• host permissions: allow the extension to add its navigation sidebar, response outline, controls, export functions, and mindmap view on supported AI chat domains only.

Data Sharing

The extension does not upload your conversations or Chat Notes to the developer, advertisers, or analytics providers. Copy actions place selected content on your system clipboard; downloads save files through your browser. Backup export creates a JSON file containing Chat Notes, their conversation addresses, layouts, and preferences. Backup import merges supported data into extension storage. Keep exported files private if they contain sensitive information. Chrome preference syncing and the AI websites’ own data handling are governed by their respective settings and policies.

Retention and Website Links

You can edit or clear individual Chat Notes in the extension. Removing the extension removes its local browser storage; exported files remain wherever you saved them. Export a backup before uninstalling if you want to keep your notes. Chrome controls the retention of synced preferences.

Installation opens our onboarding website. Uninstalling opens an optional feedback page with the extension ID and version in its address. No chat content or notes are included. If you submit feedback or contact us on the website, the information you choose to provide is handled separately from local extension processing.

Remote Code and Tracking

AI Chat Navigator does not use remote code for extension functionality. It does not include analytics, tracking pixels, advertising identifiers, or behavioral tracking.

Security

AI Chat Navigator is designed to minimize data handling. It accesses only the information needed to provide navigation, outline, mindmap, copy, and export features on supported AI chat pages.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If significant changes are made, the updated policy will be posted here with a revised last updated date.
